What are variables?
What are variables?
Updated this week

Variables can be used to create dynamic content based on respondents’ answers. For example, calculating the price for a payment form, adding up a quiz score, etc.

Here are some common use cases for variables:

  • Scoring quizzes with points assigned to each category and the overall score.

  • Pricing calculators with payment forms that allow respondents to select products or services and then calculate the total cost dynamically.

You can give each variable a base value, or leave it at 0 (zero), depending on what you want to do.

The Price variable is only available when you use a Payment question in your typeform.

Note! Only letters, numbers, and underscores are accepted when creating a custom variable.

If you want to display a variable to your respondents, you can add it to your text using the @ symbol. This will bring up a list of all the information you can add to your text, including any variables you have set up.

The values of your variables can be changed or used throughout your form and you can view the values for your variables in your Results panel.
