Form Layouts

Single Page

All questions are shown on one page in single page layout. See example

Slides

With Slides layout, you can show one question per page. See example

Formly Branding

With a Gold or higher account you can remove Formly branding - hide the "Made with Formly" badge in the footer of your form and on your Thank you page by switching off the toggle.

Can you remove ‘getformly’ from form’s URL?

If you're on a Gold or higher account, you can create a custom domain or you can embed a form in your site. Find out more here.

Redirect on completion

When a respondent submits a form, you can redirect them to an external URL like your website or a calendar tool.

Switch on the toggle next to Redirect on completion and Add a web link of choice that will load once a respondent clicks the submit button at the end of your form.

Note!

  • Respondents don't see Thank you pages when you use Redirect on completion.

  • Redirect on completion doesn’t work when using Preview mode in the builder.

Progress bar

Activate your form's progress bar to show respondents how much of the form they've completed so far.

The progress bar shows as a horizontal line at the top of the form that's partially or completely filled in, according to the respondent's progress.

Using the progress bar with conditional logic

If your form contains conditional logic, the progress bar may change in seemingly counterintuitive ways. For instance, based on the conditional logic, the progress bar may show an incorrect number of questions left in the form as the respondent advances.

That’s because the form can’t know which path the respondent will take, so it can’t show how much of the form is left to complete.

Note!

  • To avoid confusion, simply disable the progress bar if your form contains conditional logic.

  • Progress bar is not available in Single Page layout

Question number

You can show or hide question numbers for each question in your form by switching the toggle to On and Off.

When using conditional logic to skip questions based on respondents' answers, the form will automatically renumber questions in ascending order. So, for example, respondents will always see question 9 after question 8, even if they have skipped some questions due to the logic applied in the backend.

Letter on answer

You can customize your form by showing or hiding the letters on answer options for Multiple Choice and Image Choice question type.

Here’s how the letters on answers switch works:

- When the switch is toggled on, respondents will see the letters before answer options in your form.

- When the switch is toggled off, respondents will see the answer options in the same order (unless you’re using the randomize feature), but without the letters.

- The switch is toggled on by default.

This is a Multiple Choice question with letters on answers…

…and this is what it looks like without the letters.

Navigation arrows

Respondents will see navigation arrows in your forms by default, but you can also choose to hide these arrows in your Settings by switching off Navigation arrows toggle.

Here’s a form with navigation arrows enabled.

This is what it looks like if you disable ‌navigation arrows.

Free form navigation

Enhance your respondents' experience by allowing them to scroll past required questions and return to them later while completing your form.

By default, respondent will be shown an error message in Slides layout when they try to scroll through a required question, and they won’t be able to move on to the next question until they respond to it:

The Free form navigation switch is turned off by default, but when you turn it on, respondents will be able to scroll through required questions in your form without responding to them.

Note! Respondents won’t be able to submit a form that includes required questions without answering them, even if they were able to scroll through them initially. They’ll be taken back to unanswered required questions when they try to submit your form

Limit response

You can set the maximum number of form responses you want to receive before closing the form automatically. For example, you can close your form automatically after the first 100 submissions.

Password protection

You can easily setup password for your individual forms to prevent unwanted responses and ensuring you are getting only the data you need. Respondents can’t even see what the form looks like without entering the password correctly.

Enable Password protection toggle and enter your preferred password and then provide the same to your respondents.

Schedule

If you want your form to start and close on a particular date/time, you can use this feature to set this automatically.

Note!

  • You can specify just start date or close date or both.

  • Date and time needs to be specified in UTC.

Close form

You can manually close your form by switching on the toggle so no one can respond to it anymore .
